The four jobs on the ballot
I'm a Markham resident. I made this because all the election mail I got left me more overwhelmed than informed.
I wanted a way to learn about the candidates and see what they say in front of the things they have done.
I'm not connected to any candidate, party or the City of Markham, and nobody paid for this.

Good to know
Why a voting record is short
Council votes on thousands of motions in a four-year term, but names are only written down when a member asks for a recorded vote. Everything else passes or fails with no record of who was for or against. So a councillor's votes here are complete — every recorded vote is included — but they cover a small share of what council actually decided.
What a donor list covers
After an election, every candidate must file a statement naming each person who gave them more than $100, with that person's city. Gifts of $100 or less are never named, and corporations and unions have been barred from donating to municipal campaigns in Ontario since 2018. A list covers one campaign, not a candidate's finances.
Why there's nothing for this election yet
Donations to the 2026 campaigns don't become public until the financial statements are filed in March 2027, months after voting day. Any donor information here is from an earlier campaign, and candidates running for the first time have none.
Spending limits
The City of Markham sets a spending limit for each office, calculated from the number of eligible voters. Some costs — the audit, fundraising, accessibility — are exempt, so a campaign's total spending can be higher than its limit without breaking the rules.
Same name, different person?
A name in an older record is not proof of the same person. Where the connection hasn't been confirmed with a source, this site says so and leaves it open rather than assuming.
Why some pages are nearly empty
We looked for every candidate between September 11 and September 30, 2026: their websites, newsletters, City of Markham and school board records, and news coverage. Where a page is nearly empty, that is everything we found. Some candidates publish very little, or only on social media, which we can't check word for word. An empty page describes what is public, not the candidate.
